Hand, foot and mouth disease strikes Mekong Delta in Vietnam

The only pediatric hospital in the Mekong Delta (Can Tho Children's Hospital) has seen almost 4,500 children with hand, foot and mouth disease so far this year. Two children have died.

Travellers who are travelling with small children who are most susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
