Health officials announce that outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in East Malaysia is contained.

Health officials have announced that the outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease has been contained after 70 cases were reported from 36 localities. The highest number of cases were reported from Penampang. Other localities included Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Papar, Keningau, Pitas, Tenom, Kudat, Kuala Penyu and Kota Marudu.

Travellers who are travelling with small children should still exercise caution. Travellers can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
