Health officials in Texas, USA, issue measles alert

With 4 new confirmed measles cases in August (total for the year is now 9 cases), health officials have issued a health alert due to concerns that there may be further spread of this highly contagious virus. Cases have been recorded in Tarrant, Dallas, Denton and Harris Counties. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
