Hepatitis A outbreak reported in Acre, Brazil

There have been 30 confirmed and 15 suspected cases of hepatitis A in Tarauacá. Contaminated water sources are thought to be the source of this outbreak. Travellers should be aware that hepatitis A is preventable through vaccination. When there is a risk of exposure to hepatitis A virus, travellers can reduce this risk by obtaining the vaccine prior to travelling and by exercising caution and avoiding consuming contaminated food and water.
