High measles risk in Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Katanga Province has recorded 30,000 cases of measles since the start of this year. Of these, 428 have died. From the end of May through October, reported cases more than doubled.

Advice For Travellers

Outbreaks of measles can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Complications from measles are more common in children younger than 5 years old and adults 20 years and older.
