High number of deaths probably due to malaria in province of Moxico, Angola

Authorities are reporting that 17 people have died due to “anemia” (lack of red blood cells) that is most likely the result of malaria infections. At least 582 people (including the deaths) have been treated for this condition.

Exposure to malaria is a general risk in Angola. All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
