Hospitalizations for malaria increase dramatically in Bikaner Region's central hospital

The number of malaria cases hospitalized in Bikaner in the last two weeks has increased dramatically to 1,400. The usual average number of admissions is around 400 cases. There have been 6 deaths recently. Many of the patients come from surrounding areas to the central hospital.

Travellers should be aware of the relatively high risk of exposure to malaria following the end of the rainy season when there are abundant mosquitoes. Travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
