Hospitals in South Australia overflowing with flu (influenza) patients

Parts of Australia are having the worst flu epidemic since 2009, and hospitals are having difficulty coping with the number of people who are presenting to emergency departments. Some hospitals are full, and patients are being treated in ambulances outside the hospital emergency department due to a lack of available beds inside.

Maintaining a small distance (1 meter) from a person with a respiratory illness and frequent hand washing will help reduce the risk of exposure. This year, the available vaccine provides a good degree of protection against the currently circulating influenza viruses.
