Hundreds killed by Southeast Asia floods in Thailand and Cambodia

Severe flooding during the monsoons in Thailand and Cambodia has killed 224 and 167 persons, respectively. Flooding of the Mekong River has now affected the lives of over 200,000 families. Waters have inundated an estimated 291,000 hectares of rice paddy, 200 km of national roads and up to another 2,019 km of gravel roads throughout Cambodia. In Thailand, two months of flooding have inundated 58 of 77 provinces, 25 of which are still severely affected.
