In Thailand, anti-government opposition plans to continue large rallies

Polling in Thailand was disrupted yesterday when protesters caused polling booths to close in southern Thailand and Bangkok. Demonstrators blocked major intersections in Bangkok, including the Silom and Sukhumvit business districts and Ratchaprasong shopping district where some upscale malls are located. Some government ministries had to shut down or work elsewhere.

The anti-government opposition vows to stage larger protests in central Bangkok. Most travellers have not experienced any difficulties caused by these protests by staying away from public gatherings and protest areas.
