Increase in cases of West Nile Fever in past week in USA

There has been a modest increase in the number of reported cases of West Nile Fever in the USA during the past week. The national total is now 90 cases with 3 deaths. Twenty-six states have reported 1 or more cases, with Arizona reporting 17 of the cases.

Advice For Travellers

Although the risk for the general traveller is very low, this infection can have serious consequences. Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
