Increase in dengue fever cases in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Health authorities in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia have confirmed that dengue fever infections are increasing in the area. There are more than 12 confirmed dengue fever cases being reported in the area every week, up from 8 to 10 a week confirmed in previous reports. The increase in cases is due to swamps, stagnant pools and overflowing drains, which provide a breeding ground for infected mosquitoes.

Travellers to Jeddah should be aware of the increased risk of dengue fever and take appropriate preventative measures to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
