Increasing malaria in Upper East Region, Ghana

Health Services in the Upper East Region have reported almost 134,000 cases of malaria this year (an increase of 54 percent compared to last year). On average, Ghana records 3.5 million cases of malaria annually.

Advice For Travellers

The risk of exposure to malaria is high nationwide. All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
