Indian and Pakistan exchange gunfire at border in Kashmir region

At least two civilians were killed when India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire across the border of the disputed Kashmir region. India claims their soldiers retaliated to the “unprovoked” attack on Indian border posts and several villages. The two countries often accuse each other of violating the ceasefire agreement of 2003.

Many countries advise citizens to avoid travel to Jammu and Kashmir (except Ladakh region, Jammu and Srinagar) and the India-Pakistan border (except Atari crossing) due to the unstable security situation.
