Iraq experiencing prolonged period of violence

Iraq is experiencing its worst prolonged period of violence since 2007. Near-daily attacks are occurring around Baghdad as well as the north and west. Armed conflict killed at least 33 people in Fallujah. Deadly attacks also hit Baghdad, Iskandiriyah, Saba al-Bor, and Tarmmiyah. Figures from the United Nations and the government in Baghdad estimate more than 900 people were killed last month and roughly more than 4,000 people killed in Iraq this year.
