ISIL militants move within 2 kilometres of Kobane, near southern Turkish border

The ISIL Takfiri militants have moved within 2 kilometres of the eastern side of Kobane, a Syrian Kurdish town near the southern border of Turkey. Turkey has deployed tanks and armoured equipment to the area. The ISIL has carried out atrocities in areas that they occupy.

To mitigate risk, avoid travel to the Turkish border areas with Syria. Avoid all but essential travel to the border areas with Iraq and Iran, where the security situation is unstable.
