Jamaica plans campaign to rein in dengue fever

So far in 2012 up to the end of October, health authorities have registered 2,198 suspected cases of dengue fever, along with 7 deaths. Due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities, there may be many more cases in the community than are reported.

Travellers to Jamaica can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
