Japan raised alert level around Mount Hakoneyama

Japan has raised the volcano alert level for Mount Hakoneyama to limit access to a popular tourist hot springs resort of Hakone in Owakudani, which would be the area most vulnerable in the event of an eruption. The Hakone government has also closed a 1-kilometer section of Kanagawa prefectural road No. 734. At this time, the closed area is about 600 meters in diameter from the crater. No houses or hotels are within this closed area.
