Japanese encephalitis claims causes another death in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur District, India

The on-going outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in this area has claimed another life. To date, 128 deaths and 731 cases have been identified. Last week there were 13 new cases.

Travellers in this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to JE and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against JE should be considered.
