Japanese encephalitis warning in South Korea

In the port city of Busan (Pusan), more than half the mosquitoes tested for Japanese Encephalitis (JE) were found to be carrying the virus. JE occurs in the Korean peninsula, and with these results, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a nationwide alert. Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to Japanese encephalitis virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is recommended.
