Large increase in hand, foot and mouth disease in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam

Since the beginning of 2012, health authorities have reported 780 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. This number is a big increase compared to the 12 cases reported in the same period in 2011.

Travellers who are travelling with small children who are most susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
