Large number of cases of cholera reported in several provinces in Angola

More than 1,000 cases of cholera have been reported in the first 3 months of this year. There have been 18 deaths. Affected areas and provinces include Cunene, Uíge, Luanda and Benguela. Seven of the deaths were reported in the capital city, Luanda. Travellers to these areas can reduce the risk of exposure tocholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. Ifgastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea) develop whilevisiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
