Large outbreak of gastrointestinal illness in Alagirsky district of North Ossetia, Russia

At least 450 adults and children have developed severe gastrointestinal symptoms requiring medical care in the Alagirsky district of North Ossetia. Both noroviruses and shigella bacteria have been found in the water system, indicating large scale contamination of the water supply.
