Large protests planned in France to mark president's first year in office (warning)

The Communist-backed Left Front is calling for a large demonstration to take place on the eve of the anniversary of Hollande's May 6th win last year over right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy to air multiple grievances ranging from unemployment, to economic recession to legalization of same-sex marriage and adoption by gay couples. The march will start at the Bastille.Travellers should always exercise caution and avoid all public and political demonstrations since there are many emotional issues that may lead to violence confrontations.
