Legionellosis acquired in Dubai

There are reports of 26 travellers from the European Union becoming sick with Legionellosis after visiting Dubai since October. Since the travellers stayed in different hotels, their hotels are not considered to be the origin of the infections. The search for a common source(s) of exposure continues.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers who have visited Dubai and who develop the symptoms of Legionellosis should seek medical advice if they experience respiratory symptoms up to 2 weeks after travelling to Dubai to ensure early diagnosis and treatment. Persons greater than 50 years old, long term tobacco users and immunocompromised persons are at highest risk.
