Leishmaniasis (Kala-Azar) deaths in Wajir North Sub County, Kenya

A total of 150 people have tested positive for the Kala-Azar form of leishmaniasis in the Wajir North Sub-county. Two people have died. There are concerns that the infection is spreading fast to the neighboring Garissa and Mandera Counties. Travellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to leishmaniasis by taking all necessary precautions to avoid sand fly bites.
