Lung Injury Due to Vaping in USA - New Information

As of October 8, 2019, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported an increase of almost 300 persons with lung injuries associated with the use of e-cigarettes or vaping. The total number of cases has reached 1,300 persons. Sick patients have been reported by 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. There have been 26 deaths. While the exact cause of this new phenomenon is still under investigation, there is a strong association with vaping using the active ingredient of cannabis (THC) and nicotine.

Advice

Symptoms of this illness include fever, nausea, diarrhoea, and difficulty breathing that worsens over a period of days or weeks. Travellers who experience these symptoms during or after vaping should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
