Major diphtheria outbreak continues in Pakistan

At least five more infants have died in Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, due to a diphtheria outbreak. A total 27 children have died in this outbreak. The disease is spreading in a population of persons displaced in North Waziristan due to military operations. It is reported that there is no diphtheria vaccine available in local hospitals.
