Major floods and torrential rains in Thailand and Malaysia

At least 13 people have died and several hundred thousand have been displaced by severe flooding and torrential rains in Malaysia and neighbouring Thailand. The most affected areas in Malaysia include the northeastern states of Kelantan (including the state capital of Kota Bharu), Trengganu and Pahang where there are major power losses and damaged roads.

In Thailand, the most affected areas include eight southern provinces: Surat Thani, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Phatthalung, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Songkhla and Trang.

Travellers should avoid these areas since essential services including transportation may disrupted.
