Major food poisoning in Jiangxi Province, China

At least 320 people were hospitalized in the district of Lianhua in east China's Jiangxi Province due to consumption of contaminated water or food. Local officials are investigating to determine the exact cause of the illness.

Travellers can reduce the risk of exposure to the many germs found in food and water that cause intestinal illness (such as cholera, E.coli, salmonella, and many viruses) by following food and water recommendations. Avoid food and beverages sold by street vendors. Practise careful personal hygiene with frequent hand washing.
