Major measles problem in Punjab, Pakistan

While at least 25,000 measles cases have been reported across India, Punjab Province and the city of Lahore have borne the brunt of the epidemic with approximately 18,000 of the total number of cases and more than 150 of the 495 deaths, all children. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
