Malaria appears in two major Zimbabwean cities.

Health authorities have issued warnings after reporting cases of malaria in two Zimbabwean cities, Harare and Bulawayo. The fact that many of the reported cases had not travelled outside these cities means that malaria is being transmitted by infected mosquitoes within these cities. These cities are now classfied as malaria transmission zones.

Travellers to these cities should be aware of the risk of exposure to malaria and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.

Visit our Health Library for more information on exposure to and the prevention of Malaria.
