Malaria - cases increase dramatically in Dakshina Kannada district, India

Health officials have reported that the number of cases of malaria in Dakshina Kannada district have increased signifcantly. A total of 1,816 cases have been reported so far this year. Of these, more than 80% were reported in Mangalore city alone.

Travellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
