Malaria cases increasing dramatically in Zimbabwe

The Ministry of Health and Child Care has reported that malaria cases are increasing again. Reported cases had decrease to approximately 2,000 per week, but due to heavy rains, they have now reached approximately 10,000 cases per week with more than 20 deaths per week. The provinces of Manicaland and Mashonaland Central are the most affected.

Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
