Malaria cases increasing in Burundi

During the first 6 weeks of this year, there have been at least 512,664 reported cases of malaria along with 241 deaths. In 2014, there were 4,731,986 malaria cases with 2,365 deaths. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
