Malaria cases increasing with monsoon rain in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India

Two hospitals in Ranchi have reported treating an increasing number of cases of malaria. In one month the two hospitals treated 104 cases with at least 1 death. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
