Malaria cases reported in Kapilvastu, Nepal

Although health officials report a general decrease in malaria cases nationwide, as many as 103 cases of malaria have been detected in Kapilvastu in the past eight months. About 10 percent of all the blood samples tested for malaria were positive.
Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
