Malaria deaths in Kitgum, Uganda

Malaria cases have increased dramatically in Kitgum, where the local hospital is treating 5,000 new cases of malaria every week. Ten deaths per week are being registered.

Advice For Travellers

The risk of exposure to malaria is high in Uganda. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
