Malaria - Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India

Health authorities in this region have noted the rapid spread of malaria in tribal villages in the Bhadrachalam Division, specifically in Jeediguppa, Pedamittapalli and Pochavaram villages.

A total of 355 cases were identified in January and 311 cases in February 2011. Two persons have died.

Travellers to this region should be aware of the risk of exposure to malaria and use measures to prevent mosquito bites.
