Malaria increasing in Gerik, Malaysia

For the first time since 2009, malaria cases have been detected in Gerik, the district capital of Hulu Perak District in Perak, where 129 infected people have been treated. Of these, 16 were hospitalized with serious infections. However, across the state of Perak, malaria cases have decreased to a total of approximately 3,500 cases compared to almost three times that number last year. There have been 10 deaths.
