Malaria is decreasing in Assam, India

So far this year, there have been 14,785 reported cases of malaria with 7 deaths compared to 29,998 cases and 13 deaths in 2012. Althought there are fewer reported cases in this region this year, there is still a risk of exposure to malaria. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
