Malaria is widespread in Jharkhand State, India

According to reports produced by the Bokaro District Malaria Program, 2,815 cases of malaria have been confirmed in the District during 2011. These cases have been reported by local hospitals and do not include possible cases that have occurred in the community, nursing homes and clinics of the state.

Travellers to this region should be aware of the risk of exposure to malaria and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
