Malaria kills 20 people in past 10 days and infects more than 3,000 since January 2011

Health authorities have reported 20 malaria deaths in Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, in past 10 days. Over the last one month, 298 cases of malaria were registered in city hospitals. A total of 3,097 malaria cases have been reported in the city since January 2011.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to malaria and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
