Malaria- large number of cases in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, India (update)

Between January and April 2012, there are more than 1,600 reported cases of malaria in Ahmedabad even before the beginning of the monsoon season. Manwhile, in Maharashtra State, a total of 13 067 cases and 3 deaths have been registered with Mumbai being the most affected city.

Travellers to these regions can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
