Malaria - Madagascar records a surge in malaria cases and deaths

Health officials from the Brickaville District have reported a total of 2,004 cases of malaria in March of this year. Approximately 40 of these cases died. The actual number of cases may be much higher throughout the country since many cases are never reported.

Travellers to this country can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
