Malaria - number of cases is nearly three times higher than last year in Gujarat State, India

Compared to the 518 cases of malaria reported during last year (2011), the number of cases so far this year (2012) has nearly tripled. A total of 1,482 cases have been registered.

Travellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
