Malaria risk in Limpopo Province, South Africa

In the last 3 months, there have been approximately 700 reported cases of malaria in Vhembe and Mopani districts in the north of Limpopo province. The risk of malaria transmission in this province is highest from October through May. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
