Malaria risk may be expanding in Venezuela

So far this year, there have been approximately 58,000 cases of malaria reported by the states of Bolívar, Amazonas and Delta Amacuro. However, there are concerns that the malaria areas may be spreading due to inadequate public health control measures. In the state of Sucre, there has been an increase from approximately 400 cases last year to 1,400 so far this year.
