Malaria surges in northern Uganda

Ten districts in the northern regions of the country are recording as many as 10,000 cases of malaria every week. Malaria has been increasing dramatically for the past 2 months. The affected districts include Lamwo, Gulu, Kitgum, Oyam, Agago, Apac, Amuru, Kole, Nwoya and Pader.

Any traveller to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
