Malria is a persistent threat in Guinea

While the Ebola epidemic in Guinea has captured the news headlines, it is frequently overlooked that approximately 15,000 Guineans died from malaria last year. Of these, all but 1,000 were children under the age of five years.

Malaria occurs throughout Guinea, and any travellers to this country should follow all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
